10 Day Uganda, Rwanda & Congo Safari

This 10-day safari tour through Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo offers a variety of activities in different locations across three countries. You will experience Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park, a Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, a Launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel, and Hiking Mount Nyiragongo. The safari will start at Entebbe Airport in Uganda and end in Kigali, Rwanda for your departure.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

Our guide will pick you up upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport. You will then be transferred to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Depending on your preference, you can stay at the Marriott Hotel for a luxury experience or 2Friends Beach Hotel for a midrange option.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park

In the morning, our guide will pick you up from the hotel at 7:30 AM. You will then depart for Kibale Forest National Park, which is a five-hour drive away. Upon arrival in Kibale, you will have lunch. In the afternoon, you can either go on a nature walk to Bigodi Wetland, where you will see many primates and birds, or take a nature walk to the Crater Lake. For dinner and an overnight stay, you can choose between Primates Lodge for a luxury stay or Treetops Lodge for a midrange option.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will head to Kibale headquarters for a briefing by the head park guide on what to expect and how to conduct yourself during the chimpanzee tracking adventure. The chimpanzee trekking usually takes between 3 to 5 hours. After the trek, you will return to your hotel for lunch. Following lunch, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is a three-hour drive. Upon arrival in the early evening, you can opt for an evening game drive along the Kasenyi sector. For dinner and an overnight stay, you can choose between Elephants Plain Lodge for a luxury stay or Enganzi Lodge for a midrange option.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise

Wake up early at around 6 AM for a morning game drive along the Kasenyi tracks. During this drive, you will have the chance to spot early morning predators and other nocturnal animals before they retreat to their hideouts. You might see herds of buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lions, and various species of antelopes. After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. At 2 PM, head to the Kazinga Channel for a launch cruise to see hippopotamuses, different water birds, and many more buffaloes along the shores. For dinner and an overnight stay, you can choose between Elephants Plain Lodge for a luxury stay or Enganzi Lodge for a midrange option.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi

After an early breakfast, you will head to Bwindi, passing through the Queen Elizabeth Ishasha sector, where you might see the famous tree-climbing lions. Continue to Bwindi Forest Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the early evening. For dinner and an overnight stay, you can choose between Agandi Lodge or Four Gorillas Lodge for a luxury stay or Bakiga Lodge for a midrange option.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Start your day with an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters at 7 AM for a briefing by the park authorities on the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. You will then enter the forest at 8:30 AM to track the gorillas. The tracking experience can last between 1 to 5 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas. Once you find the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them. After returning to the lodge to refresh, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park, crossing the Cyanika border. For dinner and an overnight stay, you can choose between Five Volcanoes Lodge for a luxury stay or Da Vinci Lodge for a midrange option.

Day 7: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Gisenyi

Wake up early for another exciting day. After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey tracking. Golden monkeys are endangered primates that are notable for their bright color. While tracking them, you might also spot other primates in the forest. After the tracking experience, you will have lunch and then set off to Gisenyi on Lake Kivu. For dinner and an overnight stay, you can choose between Kivu Serena Hotel for a luxury stay or Paradise Malahide for a midrange option.

Day 8: Nyiragongo Hike

Rise early for breakfast and then cross into Congo via the Goma border. You will drive to Kibatsi village, where the Nyiragongo hike starts. After a briefing by the head staff, you will begin your hike towards the Nyiragongo summit. The hike usually takes between 4 to 6 hours, depending on the fitness of the group. For dinner and an overnight stay, you will be accommodated in the top shelters.

Day 9: Descend Nyiragongo

After an early breakfast, you will descend from the Nyiragongo summit, reaching the base in the afternoon. You will then cross back into Rwanda and drive to Kigali, arriving in the evening. For dinner and an overnight stay, you can choose between Marriott Hotel for a luxury stay or Heaven Boutique Hotel for a midrange option.

Day 10: City Tour of Kigali and Departure

After breakfast, you will embark on a city tour of Kigali. During the tour, you will visit the Genocide Memorial, local markets, and the first house, among other sites. Later, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure if your flight is on schedule.
