10-Day Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari Tour

On this 10 Day Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari Tour, You’ll visit Bwindi forests to see gorillas, Kyambura Gorge for chimps, and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhinos. In Murchison and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, you’ll go on game drives. You’ll see lots of animals like gorillas, chimps, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, and more. Also, there are elephants, giraffes, zebras, and Nile crocodiles. You’ll see hippos too, and many different birds

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arriving at Entebbe International Airport, a Tubale Safaris driver-guide will greet you and welcome you to Uganda, known as the Pearl of Africa. You will then be taken to your booked accommodation. If you arrive early in the day, you can enjoy a late afternoon tour of Kampala, visiting places like the Kasubi Tombs, Uganda Museum, and Namugongo Martyrs Shrine. After the tour, you will return to your hotel for rest.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you will head north to Murchison Falls National Park. You will stop for lunch in Masindi and visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see the rare rhinos. Afterward, you’ll continue to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected wildlife area. Here, you will visit the top of the falls to see the Nile River squeeze through a narrow gorge and drop with a thunderous roar, creating a stunning rainbow. You will then dine and rest at your lodge.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park Game Drives

Start the day with an early breakfast, then explore the northern part of Murchison Falls National Park. This game drive offers great photo opportunities with elephants, lions, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbucks, and hippos. You might also spot leopards and various bird species. After lunch, enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls, where you’ll see many water birds and large numbers of hippos and crocodiles. After the boat ride, you will return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, you will leave for Kibale National Park. You will have lunch in Fort Portal and enjoy views of the Rwenzori Mountains. You will then take a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you can see various bird species, butterflies, and primates. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Bigodi.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Today, you will track chimpanzees in Kibale National Park. Chimpanzees share 98% of human genes and are our closest living relatives. There are about 5,000 chimpanzees in Uganda, and Kibale is one of the best places to see them. After tracking, you will take a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, home to 8 primate species, over 200 bird species, and many reptiles. The highlight is spotting the Great Blue Turaco.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. This park is known for its high biodiversity, including savannah, bushland, wetlands, and lush forests. On your first game drive, you will explore the park’s 200 kilometers of game viewing tracks, looking for animals like hippos, elephants, and buffalo. A professional ranger will join you to help spot and identify wildlife.

Day 7: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, you will go on a morning game drive to see animals like elephants, buffalo, lions, waterbucks, leopards, Uganda kobs, and warthogs. After lunch, you will take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, where you will see many hippos, buffalos, crocodiles, bathing elephants, and various birds. After the boat safari, you will return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Forest via Ishasha Sector for Tree-Climbing Lions

Have an early breakfast and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest via the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park to see tree-climbing lions. Afterward, you will continue to Bwindi, stopping for lunch along the way. In the evening, you will enjoy a community walk with the Batwa (Pygmy) cultural experience and entertainment. Dinner and rest will be at your lodge.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Batwa Trail Experience

After breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla tracking. You will then enter the forest with rangers to find the gorillas. It may take about 2 hours or less to see them. The experience of meeting these peaceful giants is overwhelming. After tracking the gorillas, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relax for the rest of the day.

Day 10: Drive Back to Kampala City or Entebbe

You will have breakfast and then drive back to Kampala, stopping for lunch in Mbarara. You will arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon for a city tour before being transferred to the airport for your flight home or to your accommodation if you are not leaving that evening.
