The statue’s history began in February 2000 in Chicago, USA. It was brought to Rwanda in August 2004, where it has stayed since then. We will spend the night at Regina Pacis, a place run by the Benebikira Sisters. They will be happy to share their stories with you.

One of the girls who saw the Virgin Mary, Nathalie Mukamazimpaka, is still alive. You can see her in the Shrine, either in the Apparition Room or on the Shrine’s grounds. Every year, tens of thousands of pilgrims visit Kibeho seeking blessings.
