Entry Fees to Queen Elizabeth National park : Also the most visited safari Park in Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National park is the second largest and one of the oldest National park after Murchison Falls National. It was declared a National Park in 1952 together with Murchison falls national park which is the largest among all Safari parks in Uganda. Queen Elizabeth National Park occupies an area of about 1978 square Kilometers. The Park hosts unique impressive diversities of wildlife animals  such as; populations of antelopes, herds of African capped buffaloes, huge numbers of Elephants, Nile crocodiles, big numbers of Hippos, colorful bird species and wonderful numbers of butterfly species.

Park entry fees to Murchison Falls National Park

Just like any other safari park or protected areas in Uganda, Queen Elizabeth  National Park is under the management of the Uganda wildlife authority (UWA), This is a governmental body responsible for drafting charges to be paid by tourists to access the park and also to participate in activities offered by the park.

Fees asked by UWA are referred to as entrance fees or entry fees, activity fees, annual park fees and vehicle and aircraft fees. The entry fees vary according to the category of  tourists namely non-foreign residents, foreign residents, and East Africa Community tourist. Non-Foreign residents’ are for tourists who do not work or live in Uganda or any country in East Africa

community countries, foreign residents are people staying in East African countries but don’t have the citizenship of the country. Namely; Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and have a valid working permit. East African community tourists are residents of east African communities such as Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.

Entrance fees

Entrance fee to Queen Elizabeth National Park is the only way to access the park for any safari experiences. These charges are paid at the park’s main gates. These charges are paid according to the category of the tourist such as; non-foreign residents, foreign residents and East African citizens. To the traveler’s status, you are required to present your passport details – this applies to all non-foreign residents whilst foreign residents are required a valid working permit) and for the East African community tourists have to present a valid National card or a passport.

Here below is the entry fees/ charges paid at the entry gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park;

Foreign residents

These pay USD $30 per adult and USD $ 10 per child  to the park. However this expires after 24 hours.

Non foreign residents

Non-foreign residents are required to pay USD $ 40 per adult and USD $ 20 per child. This charge is also renewed every after 24 hours.

East African community residents

These are citizens of East Africa and they do pay UDGX 20,000/= per adult and UGX 5000/= per child. This expires every after 24 hours.

Activity fees

It is paramount to note that each activity in the park is paid  for and charges do apply to all tourists that would love to take part in it, these charges are categorized and charged according to the tourist category. They include;

Boat cruise on Kazinga channel – this is charged as follows;

  • For all foreign non residents USD $30
  • For foreign residents USD $30
  • And for all East African Residents UGX 30,000/=

Game drives

Just like park entry fees, Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park are charged depending on the type of game drive you would love to enjoy. The park offers both day or night game drives.

The Day game drive is charged;

  • To all foreign non residents – USD $20
  • To all foreign residents – USD $20
  • For all East African residents – UGX 20,000/=

Night game drive

  • For all foreign non residents USD $30
  • For all foreign residents USD $30
  • For all East African community citizens UGX 50,000/= .

Bird watching

Bird watching experience is charged as follow;

  • For all foreign non-residents USD $30
  • For all foreign residents USD $30
  • For all East African community residents UGX 10,000

Nature walks

Nature walk in Queen Elizabeth National is also charged depending on the to types of nature walks you would love to delight in.

Day Nature Walk

  • For all foreign non-residents USD $30 per person
  • For all foreign residents USD $15 per person
  • For all East African community citizens UGX 10,000/= per person

Night nature walk

  • For all foreign non-residents USD 40 Per person
  • For all Foreign residents USD $20 per person
  • For all East African residents UGX 15,000 per person

Annual park fees

Annual entry fees to Queen Elizabeth National Park only do apply to foreigner residents and East African citizens and detailed as below

Single person

If you are Single East African tourists then you are required to pay  UGX 150,000 whilst a single foreign resident is charged USD $350

Couple / 2 people

A couple or two people most probably lovers are per USD $500 for foreign resident coupe and for East African community couples are charged UGX 200,000/=

Family

A family on a safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park is charged USD $700 for foreign residents couples and UGX300,000/= for East African community tourists. Family charges apply to a family with a minimum of 4 members.

Safari guide 

Safari guides operating in Queen Elizabeth National Park, pay UGX 100,000/=. Though these annual charges are applicable to only East Africa community guides and drivers.

Tour company driver

Tour company driver are not charged as long as you are from a recognized Uganda tour company.

Motorcycles

Motorcycles for foreign registered are charged USD 30/= and for Ugandan are charged UGX 10,000/=

Saloon cars

Foreign registered saloon cars are charged USD $40 and for Ugandan registered are charged UGX 20,000/=

Pickups and 4WD cars

Pickups and 4WD cars are charged USD 50 for foreign registered and for Ugandan registered charged UGX 30,000/=

Mini buses

Mini buses for foreign registered are charged USD 50 and for Ugandan registered are charged 30,000/= UGX

Buses and Lorries

Foreign buses and Lorries are charged USD 150 and Ugandan registered are charged UGX 150,000/=

School buses

School buses for always for East African education institutions and they are charged UGX 50,000/=

Note: Vehicles are charged per day in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Air craft fees

These fees are charged to any kind of aircraft landing in the proximity of Queen Elizabeth national park, these charges are categorized according to the type of the air craft and number of seats. These charges are only limited to both foreign residents and East African community. These charges are listed as

Helicopters

Foreign resident’s helicopters are charged USD 100 and East African community helicopters are charged UGX 250,000.

Gliders and micro lights are charged USD 10 for foreign crafts and 20,000 UGX for Ugandan registered crafts.

Up to 3 seaters are charged USD 20 for foreign crafts and 40,000 for Ugandan registered crafts

4-6 seater are charged USD 30 for foreign crafts and 60,000 UGX for Ugandan registered crafts

7-14 seater is charged USD 40 for foreign crafts and 80,000 UGX for Ugandan registered crafts

15-20 seater is charged USD 50 for foreign crafts and 100,000 UGX for Ugandan registered crafts

20 and above seater is charged USD 60 for foreign crafts and 120,000 UGX for Ugandan registered crafts.
