Day 1: Kigali – Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our representative. Enjoy a Kigali City Tour including the Memorial Centre and Crafts Centre. Afterwards drive 2.5hrs to Musanze and check-in to your lodge.
The history of Rwanda dates back centuries, Kigali has been a part of it for a hundred years. Founded in 1907 as a German settlement, Kigali did not become the capital until Rwanda’s independence in 1962. Visit the Kandt Museum, tour old Kigali and the Craft centers, visit the genocide memorial site where you learn about Rwanda’s history pre-colonial to 1994 genocide.
Mountain Gorilla View Lodge sits at the base of Sabyinyo volcano, guest Cottages have en suites and are contemporary African design built using local materials. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with natural foliage and a startling variety of wild flowers. In the evenings, the Itorero, local Rwandan cultural dancers’ troupe, spices your stay with memorable Rwandan dances.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be taken to Volcanoes National Park headquarters to join your group for a briefing before starting your gorilla tracking experience.
Our trek follows the footsteps of the rare and critically endangered Mountain Gorillas, the largest living primate on earth, from the cultivated foothills of the Virungas with the mountains’ elusive buffalo and elephant through the rainforest, alive with colorful bird calls, butterflies. The Virunga peaks, among the highest in Africa are easily accessible.
You’ll stay with the gorillas for an hour, watch them feed, play, rest and raise their young. Coming face to face with a giant silverback must truly be one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth!
You will then trek back to where your driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel for a well-deserved shower and lunch.

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park
You will have another early breakfast at your hotel and then will be taken to Volcanoes National Park headquarters, where you will join your group for a briefing at 07:00AM before starting your second gorilla tracking experience if you choose to do two treks. Or you could enjoy the Diane Fossey Memorial, and golden monkeys’ and visit the ex-poachers village.
Ex-Poachers Village (afternoon option) – An award-winning conservation initiative, former poachers were convinced to renounce their wayward ways and become conservation activists. Together with their families, they founded this little community village with a replica of the Kings palace, where they now participate in eco-tourism showcasing Rwandan culture and customs. Time at ex-poachers village is very interactive, educational and fun for all ages.

Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Airport for your departure flight.
